Reality Capture: Palace of Fine Arts
Autodesk + Exploratorium, San Francisco
With Autodesk's Brian Mathews, in a first collaboration between our two institutions we captured a precise three-dimensional model (point cloud) of the Exploratorium in its original home. Autodesk demonstrated bleeding-edge photogrammetry + LIDAR fusion capabilities and the NY Times and ABC TV picked up the story. Carl Bass, Autodesk’s CEO, saw a win-win partnership potential. A generous $1.2M Autodesk corporate sponsorship of the Exploratorium was established one month later.
