Exploratorium, San Francisco

Funding: $1.75M NSF award

Named for the Exploratorium's founder, Frank Oppenheimer, this exhibit mimics human facial expressions. It was created in collaboration with the amazingly talented roboticist David Hanson, incorporating Paul Ekman's (exhibit team advisor) Facial Action Coding System (FACS), machine vision, Frubber®, and lots of servo motors. It accurately simulates the movements of all our human facial muscles.
